State of Michigan Bicentennial Grant for documentary audio-taping of interviews with Sam Steward (aka porn author Phil Andros, also aka tattooist Sam Sparrow), covering his life with Gertrude Stein, Alice B. Toklias, and Thornton Wilder in the Thirties, up through his association in the Fifties with James Dean, Kenneth Anger, and in the Sixties with Hell's Angels' Sonny Barger; the collected tapes have a certain Hellmanesque Pentimento quality.
